WELCOME TO OUR ACADEMY

What makes children successful? When they believe in their best.

We challenge and support our students so that they aim high. Academic learning is our central focus, backed up by a strong belief in enhancing our students’ wellbeing and creating employable adults for the future.

It’s an exciting time for our Academy. Classrooms and science labs have been updated and improved and we’ve revitalised outdoor areas fit for today’s students.

Join us on our journey to success.

TAKE A LOOK AT OUR CURRICULUM

We are looking forward to welcoming you again next year ready to start your secondary school journey with us!

A CURRICULUM THAT OPENS DOORS

We know that each and every one of our students has great potential. We have high academic expectations and our teachers work closely with every individual student to help them achieve their potential.

Our curriculum is powerful, local and diverse. It gives students the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills so that they can succeed both at the Academy and in the wider world.

We believe our students can compete with the very best. Our curriculum aims to give them the knowledge to be able to achieve their aspirations and have successful, happy lives.

WE CARE FOR OUR STUDENTS

Before our students even join us, we make sure we are looking out for them. We run sessions for them to meet their teachers and peers from other primary schools, as well as hosting a full-day of activities for them with their future tutor group. When they arrive in Year 7, we have a buddy system to help new pupils settle in and a pastoral member of staff looking out for their welfare.

Equally when our students leave us, we offer all the support they need. We have a dedicated member of staff who supports students as they plan their next moves into further education or training. We also run The Edge, a national programme which builds up skills fit for the workplace.

During their years with us, we make sure each student has daily contact with their form tutor who keeps checks on their academic progress and welfare. And we have regular meetings with parents and carers so that we are all working together.

The Academy is organised into year groups for social and competitive activities which fosters a positive attitude and creates a sense of belonging.

WE ARE EMBEDDED IN OUR COMMUNITY

Whether it’s through our enterprise education programme, or fundraising for charity, we have close and valuable links with the local community. Whether we are working with local business leaders, local government or the universities, our students understand the opportunities available to them in our local area and beyond.

Our student leadership team influence how their academy is run, influencing a range of areas such as diversity, how we look after the environment and what lessons are like.

Our parents and carers are important members of our academy community. We hold Parents’ Forums which allow parents to focus in on particular issues, such as homework or reports.

WE ARE A FAMILY OF SCHOOLS

The University of Brighton Academies Trust is a family of infant, primary and secondary schools based in Sussex.

Working Together, Delivering Excellence, Achieving Ambitions, and Nurturing Potential are the values that guide us. We support each other, sharing insights and best practice so that we never stop improving.

Our mission is to inspire our children and staff to flourish and achieve their best. It is important to us that we positively impact our communities and that pupils understand the role they can play in the wider world.

We aim to create a vibrant, inclusive community, transforming lives and broadening horizons through excellent teaching and learning.
