Governors

Richard Cherry

I have lived in Burgess Hill for many years and have always been actively engaged with the community here. As well as my interest in schools and education, I am also the West Sussex County Councillor for Burgess Hill East and am involved with a local neighbourhood charity.

My initial interest in education stemmed from the fact that my children went to school locally and over the years I have been on the board of governors for several local schools.

I also have a professional interest in education, having worked for the Learning Trust and the National Association for Head Teachers.

These days my main interest in education is The Burgess Hill Academy, where I chair the local board. It is an exciting and privileged position to hold. I am very proud of the academy’s continuous journey of improvement and the hard work it puts in to teaching and caring for all its students.

I believe that whatever challenges our teachers have to face, there is commitment, determination and a mood of optimism that drives them and all of us involved in The Burgess Hill Academy to do the best for our students and offer them the best quality of education and care for their future.

Rob Stanbridge

My name is Rob Stanbridge and I am a parent governor for the local board of The Burgess Hill Academy.

I currently have 2 children currently in the Academy and so wanted to be able to offer my help and volunteering for the board is a great way to give something back to the local community and the Academy.

I have been involved in school governance for some 10 years now having been a governor at a local primary school since shortly after my eldest son started school… fast forward to today and I can honestly say it’s a rewarding varied role and it certainly brings to life the challenges and rewards of being involved in education these days!
