Safeguarding
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is an key part of everything we do. This is an essential factor in creating a safe and caring environment for the children and young people who attend the Academy. The students in our care have the right to expect adults in positions of responsibility to do everything possible to foster these rights, including the right to protection from all types of abuse. This responsibility is taken seriously and Governors, staff and volunteers who work at the Academy share an objective to help safeguard children and young people in partnership with the students, their parents/carers and all external agencies.
To achieve this objective the purpose of policies, procedures and systems created and linked to safeguarding are to afford protection for the students at the Academy and enable Governors, staff and volunteers to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children by establishing a culture which makes this school a safe place to learn.
The Academy will ensure that systems are in place to:
- Prevent unsuitable people working with children and young people
- Challenge poor and unsafe practice
- Contribute to effective partnership working between all those involved with providing services for children and young people
Where we identify children and young people who are suffering or likely to suffer significant harm, we will take appropriate action with the aim of making sure they are kept safe both at home and in the education setting.
