Mock Interviews: On Thursday 22 and Friday 23 October, we have a large number of volunteers coming to the academy to give mock interviews to the students.  Every student has received a tutorial session to explain what is expected of the interview, and I have shared a list of prospective questions with students to allow them to prepare some answers in advance.  The aim of this mock interview is to provide a supportive experience of interview prior to college interviews.  Students will be notified by their tutors on Monday 19 October of the date and time of their interview.

The interviews which are taking place on Friday 23 October have slightly more challenge to them and are being run by volunteers from Octopus Energy.  Students who are being invited to attend these interviews have already received an email from Mrs Dorgan providing further information on what is expected and a link to a video to watch.  There is also a short form to complete to allow the volunteers from Octopus Energy to tailor the interview to the student.  It is important that students complete this form by Friday 16 October.

If you have any questions relating to this, please contact Mrs Dorgan.

Engineering Students: Mrs Alexander-Lindsay has recently provided students with Engineering Design course books to take home for revision, alongside the exam practice workbooks we have been using in class. Together, these resources will support more thorough revision, building on the keyword practice available through Quizlet.

Students have been asked to return the course books after their exam, which takes place in the second week of May and is one of the first in the exam series.

Some students were reluctant to take a book home because they were worried about forgetting to return it. While we understand their concern, we believe having access to the book at home would be valuable for their revision.

If your child decides they would like to take a book home after discussing this with you, Mrs Alexander-Lindsay will be happy to provide one in their next lesson.

Please contact Mrs Alexander-Lindsay if you have any questions about the course, the exam or revision.

Steve Willis Training Open Days: Year 11 students interested in apprenticeships in Gas, Electrical or Plumbing are invited to attend an Open Day at their Burgess Hill training centre. Upcoming dates are 28 October, 21 November and 17 February. Parents/carers are welcome to attend. Find out more and register here: https://stevewillis.com/apprenticeship-open-days/

The focus of this week's assemblies is the benefits of volunteering! So many life skills learnt by students when they support their local community, whether that's in or out of school. We are delighted to welcome Liz, from The Burgess Hill Pantry who spoke about the wonderful work they do. We are asking students, if they are able, to bring a donation of food or toiletries into school over the next two weeks to support the work that The Pantry do. Students were also reminded about The Lions Club Young Leader in Service Award which recognises volunteers in the community. #TBHACareers #Volunteering … See MoreSee Less
