23rd April – 24th June 2026: Public Exams
The main GCSE exam period begins on 23rd April 2026 and runs through to 24th June 2026. As we move into this period, students are still expected to be in school 100% of the time and additional structured revision lessons will be scheduled around the exam timetable:
- Morning Pre-Exam Lessons – On the morning of each exam, students must arrive at school by 8:00 am for a focused pre-exam revision lesson with their subject teacher.
- During the day – There will be targeted revision lessons prior to each exam.
- After-School Exam Preparation – Additional after-school revision lessons will be scheduled to provide further support.
When a student is not in a revision lesson, they are expected to attend their normal timetabled lesson.
24th June 2026 – Exam Contingency Day
The Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) has set a contingency day for the summer exams. Students must remain available on this date in case of any rescheduled exams: Wednesday 24th June (all day).
20th August 2026 – GCSE Results Morning
The official GCSE Results Day is on Thursday 20th August 2026. The Mock Results Afternoon will help prepare students for this important moment by familiarising them with the process of receiving results.
Further Guidance and Post-16 Planning
As exams approach, students should continue thinking about their post-16 options. Many colleges and apprenticeship providers have already opened their application processes. We encourage students to research courses that match their interests and career ambitions. Regular college visits are scheduled at school, where representatives will provide information and answer any questions. For additional support, students can speak to Linda Dorgan, our Careers Leader, who is available to provide guidance with post-16 applications.
Exam Conduct
During exams, students must adhere to JCQ regulations, which set out strict expectations for exam conduct. This includes arriving on time, following the assigned seating plan, and maintaining silence from the moment they enter the exam hall until they leave. Students must not communicate with their peers in any way, and any attempt to disrupt the exam or engage in malpractice will be taken seriously.
To ensure exam integrity, all mobile phones and electronic devices must be switched off and stored outside the exam hall. Additionally, non-intrusive metal detector scans will be conducted upon entry to ensure compliance with these regulations. These measures help create a fair and focused exam environment, allowing all students to perform at their best. Please also refer to our exam polices on this website.
Exam Boards and Revision Resources

Supporting Students in Their Preparation
To help students prepare effectively for these exams, revision strategies are taught in tutor time, including creating revision timetables, using active recall techniques, and practising past papers. We have collated our Big 5 Revision Strategies that we teach at TBHA. These can be seen in the booklet below.

Here are two blank revision timetables for you to use.
Independent study habits are crucial, and we encourage students to dedicate at least one hour each day to structured revision across their subjects.
Your Support
We recognise that the exam period can be stressful for students, and we are committed to providing the necessary support. Early revision and structured preparation have been proven to reduce stress and increase student confidence. For additional guidance, the following resources offer practical advice on managing exam stress
Exam Stress – How Can Parents Help?
As always, your support is invaluable in helping your child prepare effectively. Encouraging them to engage with revision resources, attend after-school study sessions, and maintain strong attendance will ensure they are in the best possible position to succeed.
